Clearing Customs on a Shipment
File, validate and clear customs directly from the Shipment Twin.
Overview
Customs is RBAC-restricted. Only Customs Broker, Ops Director and Executive roles see the workspace. The workflow starts from either the Customs workspace or the customs panel on a Shipment Digital Twin.
Business Value
AI Validation catches missing HS codes and declaration errors before filing.
Pre-clearance shortens the AOG cycle by hours.
Every action lands in the audit trail — critical for post-clearance audits.
How It Works
Open the shipment in the Customs workspace, run AI Validation, resolve any flags, then file. Filed declarations attach back to the Shipment Digital Twin with their status chip.
Workflow
- 1
Open the shipment
From Customs → Pending, click the shipment to open the customs panel.
- 2
Run AI Validation
Click AI Validate. The Copilot cross-checks HS codes, values, DGD and origin against the declaration draft.
- 3
Resolve flags
Fix any flagged fields. Re-run validation until clean.
- 4
File the declaration
Click File. Status flips to Filed and the Twin's customs chip turns amber → green on clearance.
- 5
Handle holds
If a hold is raised, escalate from the customs panel — the AI drafts the broker's response with citations.
Key Components
Best Practices
- ▸Always run AI Validation before filing — it prevents 90% of hold events.
- ▸For AOG shipments, pre-clear as soon as the routing is confirmed, not after landing.
